WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader kit upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the preview of an item upgrader mod's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current level of the item level upgrade. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
