Top Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

Robots aren't quite as adept at removing particles such as metal screws or chunks of pasta. However, they are amazing at cleaning pet hair, dust and crumbs. The best models feature intelligent navigation technology and a feature to avoid objects that allow them to maneuver around cords, toys and other household obstacles.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is an excellent robot vacuum that comes with a range of clever features that make it much easier to maintain than most competing models. The automatic vacuum cleaners bin emptying feature is among the best roborock vacuum features we've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It's great on carpets and hard floors. The app walks you through the entire process. It's also simple to use and set up. Another notable feature is its ability to return to the spot where it began in our tests. It did this for 77 mins on one cleaning before running out of battery.

The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums we tested has a self emptying bin that automatically dumps debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base once it's full. The i3+ EVO is able to prevent overfilling by a self-emptying bin. However it still needs to be manually empty at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's built-in dustbin holds 2.4L of waste, which is enough to get it through five or four cleaning sessions before you need to replace it.

Similar to the i7, this model also uses the latest floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. However the i3+ EVO only stores one map, while the i7 has the capacity to store multiple maps. The i7's map is used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones however, not the i3+ EVO.

The i3+ EVO does a better job of removing surface debris compared to some other robovacs we've reviewed, but it is not the most effective in cleaning corners and edges. It's also more abrasive on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It pulled chairs away from walls and caused some collisions with the sides of our bed, and also became stuck on cords and toys while testing.

2. Black & Decker Pro Q5

Whether you're expanding your robot vacuum collection or are just starting out, the Q5 Pro is a great option. It has an elegant design with powerful navigation and effective automation at a reasonable cost. It's the most affordable model for the money you can get currently, and it even matches the Roborock models that are much more expensive in a variety of ways.

This robot does an excellent job of cleaning floors that are not clean and its avoidance technology helps it steer clear of furniture legs and other obstacles. It also excels on carpets and scores a high score for our navigation tests. It's only downside is that it's louder than other models and doesn't perform as well in our owner-satisfaction and predicted reliability assessments.

The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust container of 770ml. This means you won't need to empty it as often as other 2-in-1 robots. Its 240-minute runtime is also extremely generous when compared to other models we've examined. If the battery is empty it returns to its dock and automatically recharges before resuming cleaning where it left off. You can manage the Q5 Pro via the app and use voice commands with amazon robot vacuum Alexa or Google Assistant.

This is one of the first robots we've seen incorporate 3D mapping. This, in conjunction with other innovations, makes it excel during our mopping and vacuuming tests.
