This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
