The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic mop and vacuum robot vacuum for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum uk mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
