WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item level upgrade, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose.
